After the sad end to the Samsung Note 7, Samsung had a significant problem. Instead of scrapping and wasting raw material from the Note 7 phones, the company had a great plan. The Samsung Galaxy Note FE (Fan Edition) had a soft release and almost no marketing, and is a revival of the returned Note 7 phone, especially for Note fans in Pakistan.

After experiencing great trouble with the Note 7, Samsung utilised the parts and tech from the phones to remanufacture the Samsung Galaxy Note FE or Fan Edition. The most useful fact for Samsung Galaxy Note fans, this one does not blow up in your pocket. Running a Quad-Core CPU and Android OS 7.1.1 Nougat the Note FE is an excellent low cost alternative to the S8+.

Samsung Galaxy Note FE price in Pakistan

Most fans will be searching away looking for the Samsung Galaxy Note FE price in Pakistan, primarily because this is a South Korean manufactured phone. There is bad news though, the Note FE is not an easily available phone in Pakistan and you will have to visit actual markets to buy one.

The phone was released with an initial price of $849, but has significantly gone down due to its vast unpopularity and better Samsung phones coming out. The current Samsung Galaxy Note FE price in Pakistan is between RS.59,500 and RS.62,000.

I confirmed prices with several local Samsung retailers in Karachi and the price was quoted between RS.60,000-62,000. With the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S9, there is a chance prices for the Note FE will go down further.

Samsung Galaxy Note FE features

The Samsung Galaxy Note FE is remanufactured version of the Note 7, hence many features you will notice are similar, including the screen, the stylus touch and the powerful processor.

A New Safer Battery

The most important feature in the Samsung Galaxy Note FE is its brilliant 3200 mAH battery, tested not to heat up and blow up. The interesting changes to the battery include an 8 point battery safety check and multi-layer safety measures to ensure no mishaps.

Edge Display

The Samsung Note FE also comes with a curved edge display. The excellent combination of glass and steel makes the phablet a very durable device. In addition, the Note FE also offers a great grip, so you don’t drop it because of its massive 5.7 inch screen size.

The IP68 screen is both water resistance and dust resistant, while shock testing has offered very good results too. The phone can take up to 1.5 meters of water or 30 minutes submerged.

Dual Pixel Technology

The exact technology that Apple calls the Dual Lens Camera tech, the Samsung Galaxy Note FE comes with its own brilliant camera technology. Dual Pixel ensures better light effects and background simulation with its improved larger sensors. The great thing about Dual Pixel tech is that it needs only one camera unlike the two cameras from Apple.

In laymen terms, the Dual Pixel uses the single camera to determine the light exposure from one end to another and then the software adjusts to the surroundings. This allows you to take brighter photos, with deeper colors and even blur backgrounds using the single lens.

The S-Pen

Like its predecessor, the Galaxy Noe FE also comes with a Stylus Pen. The S-Pen has a Pen Pressure Perception of 4096, which means it will interact better with the phone screen. You can draw, write, calculate and take instant notes just like on a notebook.

The S-Pen is also water proof, with the addition of using it as a mouse. If you hover the S-pen over an image or video you can actually edit them in real time. Now, here is the amazing fact, you can actually take notes with the Samsung Galaxy Note FE under water.

Iris Scanner

I really love the new biometric IRIS scanner from Samsung, also a part of the Samsung Galaxy Note FE. It allows only you to unlock the phone keeping all your data and notifications safe. There is one catch thought, Iris recognition depends on the environment you are in, too dark or too bright and you will need time for the phone to identify the eye scan.

Samsung Galaxy Note FE Specifications

Since it’s a remanufactured device, the specs on the phablet are considerably awesome like the S7 and S8. The Samsung Galaxy Note FE has some very powerful specs in the lighter and smaller frame. Samsung Galaxy Note FE specs that I loved include:

  • A superb resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels for excellent browsing, video and photo viewing
  • Mighty Octa-core processor (4×2.3 GHz Mongoose & 4×1.6 GHz Cortex-A53) for business, entertainment and even developers
  • Enhanced 12 MP + 5 MP, f/1.7, 22mm, dual video call, Auto HDR with Dual Pixel tech

The Samsung Galaxy Note FE is a great low cost alternative to Samsung’s flagship devices. While it offers massive processing power, a high end camera, stylus features, curve edge and water resistant screen, there are flickering issues with the screen.

I would love to go for the Note FE if I want a lower end substitute for the Galaxy S8 and S9. There is massive potential for the Note FE in Pakistan, but right after the price tag has come down.
